Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

1st homegrown chick that hatched yesterday (day 19). It's a bantam Araucana hatched by my bantam Cochin!

Yesterday was day 10 so I candled the 7 eggs that my BO hen has been brooding. To my untrained eye I see major shadowing on 5 eggs, 1 I'm not sure about as the shadowing looks different than the other 5 (all to one side and looks more red then dark) and 1 that doesn't look good at all.
My concern though is that on a couple of occasions when I have kicked mama off the nest to do her business and eat, I have noticed that a couple of the eggs are cooler than the others. Is it possible that these will hatch out or are they likely to have died?

Poor Red, she's been sitting so long (almost 30 days now) that I noticed some of her feathers are getting sparse on her breast.

It's 100 degrees today, I feel so bad for her. Only a few days to go though. Hang in there, Red!

to Red and all the other broodys sitting in this weather. Takes real dedication!!

I know, "mama" my beautiful blue Sumatra is sitting on eggs in a tin shed. It's warm in there....

And I see "little Blue" has been laying in a nest in there as well. Maybe the Ferrel little thing will finally go broody in a safe spot!

Maybe she has finally gotten the picture stony. Hope they are are doing great in this hot summer. It's been up to 90* here in the mountains with high humidity, I am thankful all of mine are through whether they know it or not. found 2 bantams sitting on eggs today not theirs, I had to chase both off the nests. Their nuts.

yes they are. If I'm not making noise in my workshop when a broody gets up to eat, I start laughing everytime. 1st, a loud screech. Then the broody flies 5 or 6 feet off the ground for 30 to 70 yards to get where she wants to be (Sumatra's fly SO WELL). Then the ticked off broody dance starts. So funny
