X3!

Here is my newest addition. I have had 9 broodies so far this year. 4 hens brooded twice and 1 new broody. By the time the late summer broodies started, the molting had started and my egg production was down. So, I gave this broody 3 duck eggs. 1 hatched and 1 is in the bator, it seemed a few days behind. I don't think it will hatch tho. I took eggs out of the fridge for broody #9. We'll see what they do. My broody in the basement is due this weekend. She has 4 eggs left. Here is Pebbles with her solo duckling.

How adorable, what breed of duck, Congrats to you, I had 9 broodys this year also. Stoneykill was the winner though with 14 I believe.

Thank you. It is a Khaki Campbell. I wasn't going to do ducks until Spring, but I ran out of fertile chicken eggs and I don't have the motivation to break a broody.

I wish the other 2 had hatched also, that way the duckling had some friends. So far it is doing good with mamma. The baby got in his water dish to play and mamma said "get out of there right now!" It was so funny, she couldn't figure out what baby was doing.

Wow, 14 broodies! My dining room isn't big enough for 14. 4 at a time twice was bad enough.

I had an indoor duckling for 3 months because mama duck wanted to kill it, it was fun, but glad he is with the rest of the ducks now.
