We came home from vacation to find my blue bantam Plymouth rock, Vera, setting on 4 eggs! She was on them all night and only got off in the morning when I let the flock out. I thought "Oh, just a false broody." But when I came home today there she was back on her eggs! We have a black bantam Plymouth rock roo so hopefully all of them will be fertile. This will be her first brood so I don't know how well she will do. I think I will leave her in the coop on her eggs as she is the alpha hen and her sister Violet hates to be separated from her (she slept next to Vera on the ground all night).
I sure hope she will hold up, I was going to incubate so eggs, but a broody is so much better
