and then there were 16
. "Mama" is broody again
. 3rd time this year. I saw her yesterday morning 1st thing, then didn't see her the rest of the day. Never saw her go to bed. So I was hoping she was somewhere safe. Mama gets up to eat when she is broody like clockwork. 1st thing in the am. This morning I take care of everyone, and am heading out to the shop. There is Mama waiting for me to feed her. Puffed up and angry
. So I went in the shop and watched her. She went in the Sumatra shed (formally my storage shed) where I suspected she was hiding her eggs. I have no idea how many she is on, but I do have an idea where she is now. Under and behind things in the shed. Mama has her name for a reason! And she is smart! She has her little ones in the shed, then once they are grown, leaves them there to live where they are safe! She is such a good girl
. Who needs silkies when you have Sumatra's
.
So from early March to late November, 16 broody's. 10 adult girls, and 2 that were born this spring have gone broody. A little praise for Mama
. She is my queen Sumatra
