Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

5 days to go, I went out to check on my broody and she was off the nest to get food, so I took the chance to check the eggs, 2 of the eggs have a very tiny, single crack, one on each egg. Are these internal pips? Or are they just busted?

A small hair line crack can let bacteria inside the egg, I am not that good with info on this sort of thing, but I have heard people using wax and even scoth tape to cover the crack.. hopefully someone who has experienced this will do better with advise.

Day 16 is over in 10 minutes!! Cant wait until sunday or monday. I have heard that with broodys its only 20 days? I hope thats right! I keep counting the days down! LOL

my broody's start their hatch between day 19 and day 23 generally. What tends to happen with mine is they leave the nest after the 1st born is 48 hours old. I've had some go back and hatch the remaining eggs, and others simply leave it to raise their little ones
