Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Hi All,
I'm new here just had my first broody hatch, what a great experience we hatched out 11 mixed bantam breeds ( Easter egger, dominique, millie fleur, and buff brahmas) I'll be curious to see how these chicks pan out.
Last night was there first night in there coop that is separated from the big girls, they were much to loud being in the house..
When I have enough posts I will share pics..

Easter Egger

Not Sure the breed

???

???

Feather Foot ????

Feather foot???? Coloring of Millie

These two came out of blue eggs

Feather feeties.. Possibly Millie fluer due to coloring

These must be mixed with some domonique

Hopefully in time when they grow out a bit more I can figure out the mix, and more importantly figure out the sex

Iv'e persuaded my mam to let me have a incubator! :D, but it's on one condition, i can only use it when i have a broody so the chicks can be given to her. I was planning on (when i have a broody) to put 6 duck eggs under her, then put 6 hen eggs in the incubator (on the same day), and when the chicks hatch wait 24 hours then go up just before dark and put the chicks under her with hatched ducklings if any, would this work? or would she not take well to having some ducklings and some chicks? or would i be best off hatching all duck or all chicks?

Do you think the broody will accept the chicks? I hear that it happens, but I haven't had any success with it...

Those are some really cute chickies...I wish I could post some pics - those pics would look good on the springtime chick thread why don't you put them there too? I agree, those two look like sharing some great secrets!

I have a question and I sorta know the answer already but I want yalls opinion. I just recently got a new fence for my Silkies so that my broody can have the tractor all to herself with her chicks. She is due Thursday. She's not entirely safe where she is due to a chick-aggressive rooster in the coop with her. Should I wait to move her after they hatch since she's so close to hatching?I know I'm not supposed to move them period but its for their safety...
