Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Nice chicks and nice view John :) can I come live with you? That scenery is truly beautiful.

Here is my happy hen with her 2 new chicks!

Should I take the box away? Now? Just leave the hay on the wood chips with no box?
I'm afraid they'll get out and not be able to get back in (has happened once already)

Adorable!!!

thanks everyone, i live in the UK in Cumbria, yeah it's so nice up there and relaxing, if only the stoats and weasels didn't pass on there way down to lower ground in the winter :(, i took some more pics but my phone deleted them (i officially hate blackberrys!) they were enhoying the sun whilst it was here, you can see Melow in the background!!

Hi all,
Just wanted to give an update on my broody Black Star hen, thanks to all of you who gave me advice last month!
She is still going strong, and is sitting on 9 eggs at day 19. No evidence of peeps or pips yet, but she's been doing a great job of sticking with the nest so I hope she'll have some hatch. Hopefully I'll have some chick pictures of my own to share this weekend!
