Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

oh and dont worry babs did get up straight after i took the pic then she beat the two hens up standing next to her because she thaught they were challenging her!

my ex batt babs started beating the orpington chick in so mama stepped in and left the ex batt like this, i felt so sorry for babs but she was mean to the chick!!
Well, I guess Babs learned her lesson hu? She won't tangle with a broody mama again, or her chick! She doesn't look too bad, missing a few feathers maybe but mostly a brow beating! Good for mama!

Babs is 6 years old now, shes had a small molt, feathers on the neck were the ones mostly lost, before the orp had chicks babs was above her in the pecking order, but one day i went up and it had all changed!

by the way one leg is lifted up higher than the other, its not swollen, just her struggling, gosh she wasnt half screaming when i had a hold of her!

Does she have feathered shanks? Weird! Nope look good to me
