A week is not an issue. Most broodies lay a full "clutch" prior to setting... thats anywhere from 20 - 30 days depending on how many eggs she lays.

7 to 10 days old is fine. My girls will lay for 14 to 21 days sometimes before sitting. I have good hatch rates.I'll probably just let the broody decide when she wants to leave them then. I'll candle them tonight again to see if theres any life, but even if theres not I'm not too devastated considering these eggs were probably already a week+ old when I put them under her.
