Old fashioned Broody thread for ducks 2013 edition

Chick feeder and water by mom--- CHECK!!!

Set it up today.
Hopefully she'll use them and teach the babies to use them.
8 days till potential hatch!

What no video today?

I think having mom used to the food & water is good, like it helps her teach the babies to use them quicker.

The moms are ok together, but one of the Rouen x KC 2-wk olds is rather a pain... I know I've written before that there's no such thing as an aggressive duckling, but this particular one I have seen go after the little ones 2x now. Luckily Khaki Mom is experienced and she keeps watch. Plus I try to also!

Nope I'm not teasing I just enjoy seeing her sitting there so sweetly. and they have their own schedule she drink and eat when she wants too. Has she been off today at all?
well I wouldn't blame you for making fun of me and my CDO!
That's like OCD only better because its alphabetical, as it should be.

She came off for breakfast and dinner.
She hides those eggs good before she leaves.
Then she's back in about an hour after bathing and socializing with the others.

lol, I'd probably be the same way if I had a camera on one of mine, matter of fact I think that's such a neat idea you'll have to share what you did and what you are using to show this.

Sounds like she is a smart cookie taking time off to eat and socialize is good.

It's just a closed circuit camera.
Like a security cam.
My husband spoils me. Lol

Is there any way to convince a pekin duck to brood? I sort of have a way, I put them up at night so i put some hay and the egg in there night box, after we put them up they start to settle down. They end up sitting on the egg. In the day i am the one that turns the egg. Sigh, i wish pekins were more broody.
