Old fashioned Broody thread for ducks 2013 edition

Miss Lydia~ Success! I waited until Momma was off the nest this morning, getting some food and placed the wayward duckling on the nest and he snuggled right in to the bunch. Later, Momma came back and didn't seem to notice. YAY! Hoping she will bring them all out soon so I can see them all. Looks like a 100% successful hatch and all his brothers and sisters are all out of shells and look fine. I will miss my little guy though

I'm wondering how close she will let me get to them once they are out exploring???? And wondering how the other adult ducks will react to her brood.??? Meanwhile, thanks for your advice :)
I'm having problems trying to post a picture of the little guy....it won't let me search my pics. Anyways, if I figure it out, I will post a pic of my little guy :)

That's great news!!! how many hatched? and keep an eye on them because you never know how one of the other flock members may act if one of the ducklings was to get to close.

What's going on? just got back from taking my dad for his new glasses, since something has happened?

Nothing has happened.
Same ol' Same ol'.

She was off about an hour for breakfast and bath. Covered them good before she left.
She's just sitting there perfectly happy.
Every now and then she stands up, pokes her bill around in the eggs, re positions them some, and then settles back down on them.

Today is day 28 since she started sitting full time.
My guts just telling me that it's not going to happen this time. Keep hoping I'm wrong.

I at least know now that she can and will go broody.
Maybe mother nature just didn't have it in the cards this time.

I don't know how long to wait before I need to remove the eggs.

I'd wait until Day 35. That's my opinion.

You can wait that long or at least wait till end of weekend then when she is off candle, if you need help then when she comes off Sunday afternoon if she does candle then that will tell you what's going on plus smell. Just because it's day 28 doesn't mean a whole lot they have their own time table we're the ones with the calendar.

She didn't get my memo it was day 28?? LOL

Miss Lydia~ 7 out of 7 hatched. I can't seem to post any pictures here. I click on the picture icon and I select the pic I want and it loads and I hit submit....but nothing happens. Not sure what I'm doing wrong?? I'm also not sure how to quote other posts to put within my reply post....I click on the quote button but nothing happens.
Yes the other adult ducks seem kinda interested in what's happening on the nest (it's deep in a clump of yucca plants) but the ducklings haven't come out yet so will have to keep a close eye on them when they emerge...I'm thinking she will take them out maybe yet today or tomorrow? Will they know when to follow her when she gets off the nest? Or will she have to coax them? They seem happy to stay right there. Will she call to them to follow? It's hot out there and I assume the babies will need water soon.
