Old fashioned Broody thread for ducks 2013 edition

Gosh I hope something happens soon. Poor girl she has been so dedicated. You know there are ducklings so lets hope more are in there and hatching soon.

So many things can and do go wrong... I'm hoping for the best Blondie. If it doesn't work out, there's always a Spring hatch to look forward to. I feel badly for the moms when they're so dedicated but get no hatch.

Here's a pic I just got. Not the best, but you'll be able to see how quickly they grow. 2 of The younger ducklings are located at about 12:00 and 2 of the older ducklings are about 7:00. The adults are mixed in everywhere.

I sure hope so.
She's certainly done her part.

If its just not meant to be, hopefully she'll try again in the spring.

I'm sad to report it's just not going to happen this time.
The nest was found today with all eggs busted and only one little remaining who didn't make it.
Bless her heart, my daughter did what needed to be done and removed the little one to be returned to our Lord.
Not sure what to think about all the others busted open.
My daughter says they were clean, white, no signs of yolks, but no signs of babies either.

It's very sad, but with hope perhaps she'll try again in the spring.

I'm so sorry, do you think a pred got to them, it happens especially with nothing in the eggs except for one. Did the duckling look full term?

I suppose it could have been a pred but why only leave the one?
It didn't look quite ready. I believe it may have died in shell.

My mama is fine and enjoying the company of the flock so hopefully she'll try again.

NO NO NO NO!!!! It's day 10 or 12 I just went out to the barn because I was going to candle the duck eggs. It's a good thing I didn't reach in her nest, my son yelled there was a snake under the bridge (which is where the nest is) there was a huge snake in there in the nest I am petrified of snakes I don't know what to do I want to save her eggs but I'm pregnant and I'll have a heart attack trying to get this snake!!!
