One of my ducks had 13 eggs under her and that was after we had pulled out three. Since the eggs we pulled and added to the incubator hatched yesterday, I candled the eggs under her with a flashlight last night while it was dark and one was internally pipped. It looks like only three are developed, the rest seem to be infertile, so I pulled them and put them in the hatching incubator. Two are pipped so they should hatch later today, the third may not hatch because I am not sure I saw any movement (I saw something move but it may just have been from turning the egg around). At least I don't have to worry about the crows getting the newly hatched ducklings, even though this was the well hidden nest in the first picture I posted. I would like to get the duck laying again with higher fertility of her eggs so I will probably need to take all the eggs away from her and make her start over. I had two young drakes running with six young hens but it looked like the hens were often outrunning the drakes.

hi i have a i beleive a pekin sitting on eggs. shes buit a very big nest from hey. i have two other females that share the pen at night. and i know they are all laying there eggs in that nest at night and only the pekin sits on the nest during the day. there should be 12 eggs in the nest by morning, since they each lay 1 egg per day. will they stop at one point or will there be a crazy amount of eggs. if so should i relocate the other two ducks?

I had a similar situation with 2 calls. One built a big nest and both layed eggs in the nest. Eventually they built another nest next to the first and swapped eggs back and forth. I don't know for sure who hatched how many but I ended up with 15 call ducks with co moms.

HAHA!! yeah it seems like it. At least yours is alone in the barn. Mine is in the same run along with the others... I was planning on putting another door to the coop so she has her own place to get out, without anyone bothering her. She refused to get off the nest this morning I just left her alone, it is really cold this morning she probably doesnt want the eggs to get cold

. Other than that I have no clue!! I have to clean both coops today so we will see.

I cant belive how much down they pluck off themselves

Had to laugh on your last statement. I could visualize that one.
