Old fashioned Broody thread for ducks 2013 edition

with the bow?

I have a nest of nine Australian Spotted ducklings starting to hatch. One egg was pipped when I last checked so hopefully I can keep guard over the nest to keep the crows away while they hatch. The mama duck is barely a year old herself so this is her first clutch. I am trading 5 of her ducklings for unrelated ducklings that are a few days old already and taking the remaining ones away to sell so I don't get them mixed up. Hopefully I can pull of the switch as I move her and the ducklings from the yard to the pen where the ducklings will be better protected from the crows. The mama is doing a good job guarding her nest and it is hidden well but I am sure peeping ducklings will alert the crows to their arrival.

Yay for DD!!!!! Did you let animal control know there had been a coon hanging around in daylight.?

That's good but wow don't like them roaming around in the day, perhaps it just got disturbed.
