Old fashioned Broody thread for ducks 2013 edition

my duck went broody today she is on the nest of 15 eggs when i go near her she like hisses at me and tries to bite me and if she gets off to come at me she gets her head waving around well hissing and she is still on the nest so im guessing she is broody she got hay all up around the nest now to and she is like buried in hay so ya i think she is broody

Sure sounds like to me, or she has literally gone crazy, we'll let me rephrase that, broody's are crazy Congrats keep us updated/ hatch date?

well she just went broody today so 28 days .. im not sure if she can hold that many though she is a saxony and she is not huge but she is pretty big and there are 15 eggs under her i found and extra duck egg of hers under my silkie she stole one from my duck lol

15 is a lot of eggs, you could probably take some and if a first time mama it probably would be a good idea anyway but wait till she is off the nest and other wise occupied before you do. . and lil silkie wants to be a mama too.

Sigh one of the chickens layed a shelless egg in the ducks nest. One of them broke it, there was broken egg all over but no shell.

I had to hurry up and clean all the duck eggs and pick apart the nest. SIGH!!! I am culling that chicken she's always layed soft eggs ALWAYS!

ya im not sure what i'll do she can cover all the eggs and stuff ... there was a huge forest fire today and its still going and the fire fighters said they can't control it the wind is going like crazy and houses burnt down there was smoke going every wheres i was out in the middle of it helping a friend we were in her house getting her baby stuff and animals we got out ten mins later the house was on fire and burning down and the fire was on to the next house it was going everywhere it got so bad that they called the fire fighters back it was getting bad everyone had to get out of there there was white smoke brown smoke and black smoke from stuff burning

Oh my goodness that's awful, everyone get away safely? so sorry she lost her home. Hope everyone is safe though.

ya i think most people are fine i feel bad for all the people who lost their houses and animals i guess i got 2 new pet rabbits we saved them .... the fire is still going and the wind keeps changing directions so its hard for the fire fighters to try to put the fire out water air bombers were dropping water there was like 3-5 of them going and dropping water down

im a ways from it but i could see the smoke if i went down the road some it was near a town called salisbury so i live like 15 mins away from there
