I took out 12 eggs and left her 5.. I also egg opened all of them & it seems they all never made it past the first week.

Also she wont let me near them. When I get close she runs towards me & tries to bite.....
Now you can remove the rest of the eggs she is full fledged mom. They look like a happy family to me.

Like I said, they don't seem to be as picky about taking on youngins - big hearts on those ducky girls.

Tan, is there someplace else you can move her she may like better? Or put her in a smaller carrier where she has to sit?
Some people do hatch out on a heating pad or under a light bulb if you don't have an incubator. Sorry. Good luck!

TY !!!!!!!!!!!!! they follower her around and everything even though they are a bit older....I am just glad I had these 2 here !!!

she seems to have perked up a bit since I put these 2 with her.

She looks great and being a mom compliments her very much, yes you were very blessed to have had those 2 babies to give her.

She's really intolerant of me touching her, so I'm not sure if i could move her. She stepped on an egg the other day, killing the baby inside, so I don't want to make her mad enough to do that again. I'd really like the baby to imprint on her, because I'm leaving next week and I don't want my sister to have to worry about caring for a lone baby duck.

Ok my khaki is still sitting on eggs. I've marked some at the very beginning when I noticed and the first markings were May 16th. She's been separated now for over 2 weeks and really taking care of them. Nothing yet and I was wondering if this is too long for these eggs. I don't smell anything going bad and when she does get off of them (which is just for a short time) I look into the nest and I don't see anything starting. Any ideas? I don't know anything about candling so I haven't tried it yet. Just not sure if I should be concerned at this point.
If she will let you sneak in there and take a few I would candle. My ducks did the same thing and I finally found most all of them were unfertilized. Luckily...after a few deaths and lots of yolkers....they finally had 2 hatch. Out of 34.

Keep us posted!
