My old Ancona hem sits her nest right in the middle of a batch of rocks, and hatches great in the pen with other waterfowl. Nobody messes with her, and she sits her nest right there by the pond (in a pen). I never make her stay or cover her. She picks her spot, and I leave her (and her instincts) in peace to tend to it. This year 11 of 12 hatches, 10 made it to adulthood.
