Old fashioned Broody thread for ducks 2013 edition

Thanks Miss Lydia~~~ I did fix the hole so no more can get caught in it (whew!) . Momma duck is pretty hostile at the moment lol she doesn't want me anywhere near her nest. So may have to wait until she gets off it? I'm just scared if I put him on the nest while she's gone she will come back and attack him or that he has already imprinted on me and will just leave the nest after me. How soon after the last one hatches will she take them out exploring? A day? More? My best bet might be to wait until then to slip him in the crowd and see if it works and hope it's not too late for him to imprint on her. Thanks for your advice! :) Scary story about that black snake....we had one in our basement a month ago and I freaked out LOL! I still get creeped out thinking about it. Glad your duckling made it ok :)
Any other thoughts/advice welcome....
All you can do is try, she'll either accept the duckling or she won't very hard to figure out these broodie/mamas. My mama from this year had her ducklings out on day 2 after hatch, some of mine have waited 3 days just again depends on mama.

Still gone. been about an hour.

sure don't know the answers but then again I didn't have a camera set up to watch my mamas when they were sitting either. probably a good thing.

you really need to post pics of the lil one. a photo shoot before it goes back lol and I hope it works out it would be much better if mama would take it to rear.

Miss Lydia~ Success! I waited until Momma was off the nest this morning, getting some food and placed the wayward duckling on the nest and he snuggled right in to the bunch. Later, Momma came back and didn't seem to notice. YAY! Hoping she will bring them all out soon so I can see them all. Looks like a 100% successful hatch and all his brothers and sisters are all out of shells and look fine. I will miss my little guy though

I'm wondering how close she will let me get to them once they are out exploring???? And wondering how the other adult ducks will react to her brood.??? Meanwhile, thanks for your advice :)
I'm having problems trying to post a picture of the little guy....it won't let me search my pics. Anyways, if I figure it out, I will post a pic of my little guy :)
