Old-Fashioned Oats ok?

This is our first year with chickens. We’ve heard that giving them a handful of uncooked oatmeal (we’ve been giving old-fashioned plain) can be a fun occasional treat. Then a friend asked if “giving them that would hurt their stomachs?” So I’m curious for you experienced folk, if it’s ok or we should cook it first (or maybe even skip it)? Thanks!

Occasional treat is OK, but oats aren't easy for chickens to digest and too much can cause digestion issues.
