Old Goat, Eats lots. Not getting bigger or more tender. Best Method to ship to Freezer camp???

Its going to be a handgun, most likely. Believe it or not, I'm more accurate than with a rifle. Familiarity, practice, and - seemingly - a funny eye (which is my rifle problem).

Bigger than a .22, but not much (and no, not .25 auto - I'd argue that's too slow, in spite of the barely larger bullet dia.)
.32?

I'm strongly cross dominant, ie, right handed, but left eye dominant. A rifle would be a problem for me too.

.32 S&W Long. Excellent guess. Its a snubby (because of course it is), and a family heirloom, but I still pattern inside a closed fist at 10y [I need more practice - but its not a popular caliber to stock]. I should be about 7' from my goat, maybe closer. I just need to decide on the best target area, and make sure I have a clean angle on it.

Full disclosure, I did replace the original wooden grips with a set of Pachmayr. Made ALL the difference.

I used to shoot Bullseye Pistol, and some competitors use .32 for the centerfire match. So I didn't have to work hard to guess. :)

Oh yeah, I bet.

I'm the worst shot in the family, safe bet you could shoot rings around the individual marks making my ring. We used to practice with a friend of the family, whose pattern was roughly the center Spade in an Ace at the same distance - with a .357 (6", full lug). He practiced every single weekend. At the time, I was happy to hit the playing card.

Found a decent diagram with cross section. https://www.hsa.org.uk/humane-killing-of-livestock-using-firearms-positioning/sheep-and-goats-1

I added the yellow arrow in my preferred angle but as long as you hit the brain it will be a good kill, even if it takes 2 shots.

Not to derail your thread...

Bullseye pistol is purely an accuracy game, so it is excellent training for learning to shoot. 1/3 is shot at a distance of 50 yards, and the other 2/3 is at 25 yards. Oh, and it's all one-handed. A friend of mine said it's easier for an accurate shooter to learn to shoot fast, than for a fast shooter to learn to shoot accurately.

.357 is a handful, that's for sure! I used to carry a 2" Ruger SP101. After I broke my wrist, I went to a 9mm. Hmmmm.... I need to get that Ruger out again...

Just make sure if the bullet passes all the way through that it can not ricochet back at you. No ER visits!
No worries. I'm too remote to make it to the ER. My advance directives are made clear in my living will. Its the responsible thing to do. I plan to die on this land (but not this week).

/edit Yes, I contemplate my own demise with the same lack of empathy my chickens get before they go to freezer camp. I'm not wired right. That said, there is no enjoyment in the thought - I'm not wired to be a serial killer, either. Sleep easy.
