I have a barred rock hen that is about 5+ years old. She quit laying about 9 months ago and has become queen of the roost, but about 8 weeks ago we got a very tiny dark brown egg. We thought it was from one of our new babies but it turns out that she has laid 2 more since then. They are just like a new chick egg without any yolk... very strange! Has anyone ever heard of this happening? She used to lay the most beautiful huge eggs but now... we are totally confused. Any help??? Thanks

They're called fart eggs. Sometimes older hens lay them. You don't need to worry, it usually doesn't mean that the hen is sick.

That is too funny! Do you know if she will ever lay normally again? or is it more common that they never can get back to the good ole days? just like us...

Thanks again!
