Old toaster or iron as heating element for new incubator

Well the cool cat named bahamas aka Me. is gonna try to make a new incubator. . can i use an iron as a heating elemtn. i have sumthing to stand with the metal heated peice facing the bottom of where the eggs are under the wire or use a toater at the bottom that i jammed the dial on to heat it up. Trying to spark my creative genius here. WIL IT WORK ????
