My uncle was here today to see our little flock and said something interesting...he said my hens would not sit because they were not born here. At first I thought...hmmm that's crazy. Then I thought well, maybe he knows something I don't. I know some people don't believe in the "old tales", but my dad's family is huge (he is 1 of 15) and they were raised on a farm where they raised a lot of everything, lol. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard this "tale".

I haven't heard of that before. I currently have a broody Booted Bantam, though, and she didn't hatch here -- I got her from TSC.
One of my ISA Browns also went broody last year, and I got her from the same place.
I agree with SBFChickenGirl -- old wives' tale.

There is absolutely no truth to that.
I grew up "country" and also have raised or been around about everything. I've had many many broodies and would say the majority were not born on my property.
Interesting because I've also heard many wives tales but have never heard that one.

I figured it was just a tale, but sometimes there is a lot of truth in them. My hens are only 2 months old so it will be awhile before they start to lay.
