Old Wives Tale???

Good Morning everyone, I have an awkward question this morning that I am hoping I can find the answer to on this forum.

I have approx. 60 pullets. About 20 have begun laying.

My question is I have heard on more then one occasion you should not eat the first eggs laid possibly the first eggs laid. I don’t think there was an explanation and if there was I do not remember it.

Anyone else heard this or know if there is any truth behind it or if it’s just on Old Wives Tale?? ‍

I've heard that a few times but don't know what the basis for it is. I don't see anything wrong with eating the 1st eggs chickens lay (although, sometimes they can be small).

I've never heard of it. The first egg laid for a lot of folks is a celebratory egg and eaten with great relish.

Not economical for sale, and not good for hatching is logic given to me by an old wife (grandma).

We ate the ones from our birds.

They were AWESOME!! All that work to get them to laying age, seems a waste to throw out good eggs.
