Older hen attacking younger hen, time to go?

That looks terrible! We recently had an issue with an aggressive hen (we introduced 3 pullets and 7 chicks and she was not impressed). After seeing her attack a few times I jumped on here and did some searching and reading and I'm not sure whose post it was but they had suggested isolation. We took her and put her in a seperate pen away from the coops for 4 days then on the 4th night once they were all roosting comfortably we popped her back in. We haven't had any more issues and she's settled back down. She's just a couple of notches down the pecking order

Hi Thunder.

The original poster has been having issues with that bully for years. When it has gone on that long, in the giant coop they have, isolation won't break very many if any.

Sometimes permanent removal is best.

So she/he didn't make it :hit Tried my best, but she must have had some neurological issues going on. Pretty bummed, but the rest of the flock seems to be much less stressed, so trying to see the silver lining. Thank you for all the help!

These things happen unfortunately. You could not have done more for her. I am so sorry you had to go through this.

Many on here have had attacks like this happen. Usually not this severe luckily. That is why so many say to cull the mean ones.

:hugs
