Older hen with growth on top of foot

I have an older hen that was given to me and I don't know much about chickens. Just the basics kinda. She has something growing out of the top of her foot above her middle toe. It looks black. It's pretty long too. I'll get a picture to post to as soon as I can. I've looked stuff up but I'm not sure what I should do or what it is.

I can't really tell what growth you're talking about exactly, but I can tell that it looks like she has really bad scaly leg mites. Maybe that's what the growth is, raised scales and swelling from scaly leg mites.

I thought it was leg mites. How do I treat them effectively with it this severe? I got a turkey with her too that has them. Trying to see what I need to buy so I can start treating them today. Thank you!
