Chickens hate change. As others have said they may lay an egg or two (eggs that were in production) and then take a break as they acclimate to their new home. They will know what the nest boxes are for.

I am so sorry about your hen. You can do an internal exam to see if your other older hen is egg bound. (and if she is a really older bird, she may just be stopping on the egg laying) But you can put on a latex glove with some ky jelly on the index finger and gently insert your finger into the vent. If she has a stuck egg, you will feel it there. You might also give her an over all exam, looking for things that might be preventing her from laying. Look for signs of external bugs, especially behind the neck and at the vent, feel between her legs at her abdomen. It should be fairly firm and not soft and squishy like a water balloon. (this would mean she could be internally laying or have reproductive cancer) Also, have you wormed your flock recently? Worms can suck the life right out of birds and prevent them from laying and kill them eventually.I'm so sad one of my older hens died this Satwe are not so sure what happened, we might of been to late on egg binding symptoms. Now I really worried about my other older hen. It's been 17 days and no egg yet. She seems happy. Eats treats out of our hands come to us as soon as we walk in the coop. My hubby and I noticed today what looks to be like 2 nests on our coop floor. We have nesting boxes tried fake eggs and golf balls. I'm just really concerned.![]()
