Olive Egger Chicks - gender?

Week 10

My mystery is solved. Chick #1 started crowing last weekend! He has found a lovely home with my other roosters on a friend's farm.

Didnt you say the seller claimed them to be from a black copper marans roo over a cream legbar? This would result in all boys being barred and girls being black - but all would have straight combs. I'm wondering if he had an Easter egger roo hanging with the girls before collecting eggs. Pretty boy tho!

Yes, he did claim that, but the pea comb says he's wrong about at least one of them! He did also have araucanas.
Chick #2 stayed very black:

And chick #3 started getting a copper neck like my two Marans boys. They looked so similar that I had to check for feathered legs to tell them apart. I don't have a great pic.

With your first post I would have been inclined to call 3 a pullet because it wasn't barred but that comb was concerning. Now I'd say he was wrong on this one too. The previous feedback is correct and that one will crow eventually. And also not a marans roo over cream legbar hen (it would have been barred).

Maybe seller doesn't know to separate mating pairs for a few weeks before collecting eggs.

My lovely lady, Blanche, is 16 weeks old now. She has developed some lovely iridescent feathers with copper neck feathers. I'm still wondering if she's actually mixed with Cream Legbar, but she definitely has Black Copper Marans because she has some tiny feathers trying to grow out of her legs. I'm very curious what her eggs will look like!

I believe she looks as she should with the mix you gave. I plan on putting a BCM over a CLB hen and was told the girls will look BCM while the boys will be barred. I bet you'll see that egg color before too long!
