I got 3 Easter Eggers and 2 Olive Eggers almost a week ago. The EE's are a week old and the OE's are 2 weeks old. I'm trying to play the guessing game on what my OE's are mixed with. I'm thinking Welsummer. That's all I got though. Do you agree with that? They're both basically twins except one has a darker brown stripe.

Which hatchery did you get them from? Each hatchery has its own “ recipe” for OEs and this can even change from season to season. If yours look almost indistinguishable from Welsummers, then they are likely Welsummer/Crested Cream Legbar hybrids. If they are, they should start to develop a little crest around 4/5 weeks of age.😊

OE's and EE's are not breeds. That means there are no standards, they could literally be any color or pattern. They might be from a hatchery, they might be from an individual.

If they came from an individual can you ask them? If you know the hatchery you can ask them. If you can tell us which hatchery we might be able to figure something out by looking at their web page.

Thank you. I was thinking that too. I'm so excited to see what they'll look like as they older!

I got them feom my local store and I'm not sure what hatchery they got them from.

I know they're not breeds. Ee's I've owned for over 2 years and I realize OE's are mixed as well and not a standard breed.

I bought them from my local storw (not a feed store, but I'll try to find out what hatchery they use).

I can't figure out how to edit my post to add this. I am aware that OE's and EE's aren't recognized breeds and I'm aware they're young. I was just wondering, and only asking, if people agreed with my thought or what y'all thought.

If you're dying to know, most feed stores (er, nevermind, you said it wasn't a feed store) will tell you what hatcheries they order from. Otherwise I think you'll be able to get a really good guess once they start feathering out.

My OE is Welsummer & CCL. At approx 1 week and 4 weeks:
