Do Olive egger chicks have certain identifying characteristics. I recently hatched out a combination of easter egger and what I hope to be olive egger chicks (Ameracauna Rooster with Buff Orps, Black Austrlorps, Barred Rocks and RIR hens). The brown eggs hatched but i didnt keep track and now they are mixed in with EE chicks. Do I have to wait till they start laying to know which is which? Here is a picture. They are 4 days old.I do also have some BBS chicks in the brooder also.

i used my black copper marans rooster on the ee hens so i could identify them by the pea comb. from there i put a zip tie loosly around the left ankle so i could keep track of them amongst the marans chicks. you may SOL until they lay eggs.

if all the hens you bred the ameracana rooster to were single combs, than the chicks should have a single comb, and the ee/am cross should be pea with fat puffy cheeks. jmo

Thanks. I have found 7 chicks with pea combs and fat puffy cheeks! I have banded their legs. 6 girls and one boy! Right now their colors are very different also. Here's hoping some olive eggs come out of these girls. Next time I will set up 2 brooders to keep them separate until I can band them. Thanks for all the help!
