I have a question regarding my 4 Olive Egger Hens (I assume they are likely BA/Am mixes). I Wasn't sure what color eggs I was going to get from them but have recently gotten my first 2 Olive-colored eggs, and I admit, I was pretty tickled when i found them

.

My question is... I have 2 Roos, Their Olive Egger Brother & a BLRW. I will eventually want to hatch some chicks to replenish the flock when they get older so What color will the eggs can I expect from their offspring?

Olive Egger/BLRW mix = what color eggs?
Olive Egger/Olive Egger = what color eggs?

My other hens are all brown eggs layers except for 2 White Leghorns.

If you mate OE to OE your going to wind up with brownish eggs. You want to mate and OE to a brown egg layer-If you have and OE that lays really dark eggs mate it with an light brown egg layer -that will lighten the pigment-and vice versa if you have I prefer to flip flop every year. Only keep the chicks with the pea combs though because those will be the only ones that will lay you the colored eggs. So some of my gals lay light green eggs I mate them with a dark egg layer BCM's? an so forth. You have to play with each generation like that to continue with the colors and keeping the oilve egger appearance...

Here's a picture of the 2 Olive eggs that I have gotten so far. I believe my Buff Wyandotte hens are the ones giving my very light brown eggs so would the BLRW roo pass the same egg colors on? I don't know if all wyandottes lay the same color brown eggs, these are my first Wyandottes.

Yes BLRW's lay light brown eggs-so If you used him with the OE girls you have now your dark green color will be diluted some-then hatch those eggs-use pullets from those eggs to mate with a dark colored egg bird:-0 back and forth back and forth:)

Pretty eggies!!
