To BuffyGRL,
This system will only let me send 2 private messages per day, so I'll answer you here...sorry if this is irregular.
I don't know what GFM and BIN stand for.... please give me a clue if important?
You asked where I am and what's in the brooder....We're in northern California (Humboldt county) and there are 13 EE chicks in the brooder right now. This is our second run. The first crew of 12 (same parents) are three weeks old now...we're loving all this!
Most of these come from hens who we got as chix from the feedstore a year ago, (sold as ameraucanas, but of course they're really easter eggers) We kept one roo.
Tried to do the natural brooding under a hen thing, but it was a bomb. We learned the hard way that it really requires seperate special housing. Having good success with 2 incubators though, so far..knock wood...
Though our hens are EEs, the egg colors havn't been all that exciting. We're hoping this new generation can spiff it up a bit, but when I saw yours I thought the real answer might be to add to the gene pool.
So, I'm really excited about your gorgeous eggs. I sent the paypal a few minutes ago. If you'd prefer to not send to a p.o. box, let me know and I'll send you a street address.
Thanks!
