What kind of egg are you holding in the last pic, it looks black? is it?
Are these show quality? especially the Ayams?

Hi there. :frow

Are you NPIP certified to ship legally? Are any of your breeds kept pure?

Where are you located at? Adding your general location to your profile can help other know right away. ;)

Good luck! :)
Located in NJ... but the price I gave is for shipped eggs so my location doesn’t matter a whole lot. I’ve gotten some eggs shipped from all over the country and the biggest differences have just been from poor packing versus really good packing.

I’m not NPIP because I haven’t gone through a period of time where I didn’t have any birds under 4 months which is required in NJ, but I’ve have had birds get tested for shows and stuff without any issue.

I’m not selling these as purebreds or my price would be higher, but a lot of the silkie eggs, Ayams eggs, and Ameraucanas come out purebred since I have three sections and the roosters are somewhat separated. I was going to separate them into breeding pens, but I’d rather let them have more space to forage.

So do you think the birds hatched from these eggs would be good at shows?

That is a Cayuga duck egg. It’s always a stark contrast to all my other eggs.

My Ayams are SQ, but I’m not selling these eggs as purebred, although a lot of them have come out purebred or my price would be different.

I’d rather give the birds the opportunity to have as much space as possible for the time being. I only have an acre fenced in so I’m waiting to fence in all my property before doing purebred breeding areas.

Just for reference, these are two recent batches (born last week)... one born all black, one born with a couple white toes. But that’s how the breeding process works. You hatch out like 20 chicks and out of all of those you pick the best two to be potential SQ, but this mix of eggs is just for people that want different color eggs. =))

Don’t mind their beaks, they get scratch and peck fermented feed so they get pretty messy lol

This mix is just for people that want different color eggs. You could get a show quality bird in this mix, but that’s not what I’m going for. I’ll have breeding pens set up once I finish fencing my property, then we can talk SQ potential. =)

It matters to people who want to know how far the eggs will coming from or care if they are being shipped legally as MOST states DO have NPIP requirement for importing or exporting ANY livestock including hatching eggs... as a means of protecting our national food supply chain. Plenty of diseases can pass on to embryos. While some people simply don't know about laws and others may not care... I do, as do a lot of other responsible chicken owners here on BYC. ;)

I realize your price was for shipped eggs and they were not indicated as pure... but people still may wish to know, so I asked.

Your egg basket is lovely BTW! :love

So do you think the birds hatched from these eggs would be good at shows?
Not really. But the OP seems very open and honest. :thumbsup

Why do I ask so many questions??? Because I learned my lessons the hard way. Since I have a little more experience now.. I advocate for the less well informed.
