I have two olive eggers that have different parents. Came from different feed stores. They both are (or were) jet black like baby black birds with black legs. They do not look like they've been crossed with Americauna but I'm not an expert.
One chick has no comb still and one has started to develop a beige and black pointed comb at 6 weeks, just barely noticeable. Wonder what the parents are likely to be.
The comb chick has two white feather tips now and if you look super close can see some brown hue patterning around the ends of the black feathers and some lightening all around especially front of neck. I think this one has a black copper maran parent. I saw a photo of a black copper maran chick at this stage and it was identical. It is getting a normal comb coming in, so if female will only lay brown eggs, right?
