I have an Olive Egger that I can’t quite determine whether she is a Rooster or a Hen. She is about 13 weeks old now, and I keep going back and forth. I used to be fairly confident that I had a roo due to her behavior and feathering, but now I’m not sure again. Any opinions would be helpful!!

I’m inclined to say pullet, but that’s a pretty big comb for thirteen weeks, and I think I see some darker blue feathers on the shoulders, which indicates a cockerel. Could you possibly get some photos in better light?

Yes! Here are some from today.

To add, her behavior is also something that made me question. Since I got her, she’s reminded me a lot of my past roosters. Very confident, is not skittish (even when she had very little to no socialization). When this batch of chicks would escape from their area and I was picking them all up, they would all run away from me, but she would run to me or stay put. Maybe she has a more confident personality, but in my experience I have never had a hen not be startled by anything (even my friendliest ones can be skittish at times).

Yes, I say pullet as well. I think it was just the lighting in the first photos. But by all means update in a few weeks if you’re still unsure! I’ve never seen an Olive Egger quite that color, and she’s gorgeous!
