Olive Eggers

I've been interested in olive eggers. After reading several things on them, I keep seeing where they lay all different colored eggs. Does a chicken lay different colors each time? Or do you have to get multiple ones to get that?

Each hen will lay "her" color. Same applies to brown layers. To get multiple colors, you will need multiple hens.
The comment about different colors is more that EEs and OEs can lay 1000s of different blue/brown combinations so there always seems to be variations in the colors.

Olive Eggers are actually not a breed, but a mix (or hybrid from a hatchery) that produces olive-colored eggs. Same for Easter Eggers, although they can produce blue, olive, pink, white, brown, etc.

Yep! Each girl will lay her own color. You might notice that the color gets lighter when she gets close to the end of a laying season ( like the winter or a heavy molt) but after her break in lay they'll darken back up. They also might occasionally be spotted with brown, sometimes the brown "paint job" can get slightly botched!

My new girl, Wendigo, lays green eggs. She is supposed to be an Ameracauna, but since she lays green eggs, she is probably a cross between a brown and blue laying hen.
