Omega-3 feed?

Is this stuff a gimmick or the real deal? Seems like a smart idea if its the real deal. Thanks.

It's not a gimmick. If you feed it to them then it will increase the amount of omega-3 fatty acids in the eggs.

Giving them access to good pasture will also increase the amount of omega-3 in the eggs, but probably not to the extent that the fortified feed will.

Whether it's a smart idea or not is up for debate. It won't hurt anything, but I always question why we go out of our way to fortify some foods when a diverse diet can make up for shortcomings. I figure if I need more omega-3's in my diet then I should eat more fish and wild rice rather than supplement a hen's diet.
