Now I have seen them in western MT, but never around here.
I was walking to the barn to take care of my cow and 4 of them landed on the fence in front of me.
Took a second for me to figure out what they were.
Got out my bird book and it was a pair of Western Bluebird's.

Been seeing quite a few different birds that we normally do not see.

Had one called Common Redpoll here a couple years ago, had to look them up to see what they were.

Doesn't sound that common to me...

It is mostly found in the tundra during the summer and southern canada in the winter.
Only saw it that one year haven't seen it since.

I've never actually seen a bluebird before. I don't even know what they look like

I don't suppose we'd have them down here, but I can't say for sure...

Either way, seeing a good rare bird is pretty exciting.

Now neat to see birds moving about. Us humans like to think each species does this or that then nature reminds us her creations can do what ever they want! I always get excited when I see a Pileated Woodpecker. I probably spelled that wrong but I still like seeing them!

I have 4-5 pairs of eastern bluebirds nesting on the property, they are beautiful birds. They are cavity nester's and i'm constantly fighting the english sparrows, they will trap them in the nest box and kill them, babies and adults.

Our woodpeckers are drive me crazy! in the spring they all peck on the metal guttering

sounds like a machine gun!
One of Favorite birds is the Sandhill Crane ... we saw one on the side of the road with 3 chicks ...I stopped so she could cross then she looked both ways before crossing the road and gave me this look that said "you stay right there!"

You spelled it right. They are very neat to see...very allusive in a way it seemed I was told in my college ornithology class trip...we found a nest site and sat there in a van on the side of the road being very quiet and very still until one happened to come back to the nest...I went over the 2 back rows of seats on my belly to get a better look through my binoculars.

Then my teacher said we could now get the t-shirt that said, "I saw a pileated woodpecker" club shirt. That was a really fun trip.
