Well, my first time hatching and the rollercoaster of emotions carries on.......
6 out of 6 hatched.
1 died shortly after hatching.
5 are now 15-18 days old.
2 of the 5 have distinct pom poms on their heads!
1 of the pom pom heads occasionally staggers a little and tends to sit/ lie down when eating and drinking, otherwise and 90% of the time seems absolutely fine.
I thought that the eggs I received were pure bred Cayugas so was not prepared for the crests!
Consequently, having read up about this Gene I am now in a state of complete panic again and finding myself constantly watching and fretting in case anything happens.
As you may be aware, I'm a complete softie and have become extremely attached and in love with every single one of my ducklings.
Does anyone have any advice of assurances as I don't think my heart can take any more .

Thanks, I really hoped most of the worrying was over.

Get some Liquid B complex and start giving it to all your duckling they will all benefit from it. It is the best natural way of treating an issue one may already be having. 1 ml per duckling a day. Put it over something yummy like meal worms of even small amount of feed main thing is you want them to get the full dose.
Crested can show up in any domestic breed except Muscovy. Can you post pics of your crested ducklings. Depending on how large the crest can say if there can be neurological issues. But not always.

The B complex we rec is at TSC in the cattle dept it will say injectable but can be given orally.

Tiny crests they will be fine! still use the liquid b though adorable little ones .:love
thanks for that. I've been giving all the duckies a small amount of pure niacin powder in their afternoon mealworm treat since about day 4 just to ensure that they are all getting the best. Also put a few drops of acv in their water. As you can see I'm already covering all options.
PS: their brooder looks filthy but honestly I only cleaned it out with new bedding 40 minutes ago!
