I am glad to hear he is doing better. I always go to Peter whenever I have a problem. He truly cares about chickens and understand the place the hold in our lives.

Glad he's doing better. I just wanted to say that he looks nothing like a Buff Orpington roo to me. Not the right color, and my buff orp roo has NO beard or muff. Is this a mix? Maybe Faverolle X something?

Well, glad to hear he's better. Maybe he just got pecked in the eye....you'll never truly know I guess. I will have to keep Peter Brown's name for reference....Does he help just anyone with a chicken problem?

The eye is cloudy and it appears to have infection coming out of it. I'm almost certain that your bird is sick. I don't think that it's an injury. I would remove it from the rest of the flock immediately until you find out what it is. It's highly unusual for the bird to have looked completely normal this morning and a few hours later it progressed to the point that it is now. I hope someone will chime in that may know what exactly this is.

I know this thread is years old, but just wanted to respond to this- I agree that it doesn’t look like an eye injury and that it looks impossible this occurred in the matter of hours, but I have a hen who had VERY similar occurrence. She was fine, then a later I noticed a bloody looking eye (no swelling) and within hours it was blown up like this. I‘m not saying it couldn’t be some sort of chicken illness, it could. Just wanted to chime in and say it’s possible it to get looking this bad within hours.
