Omg help!!!!!!!!!

The oats were given to my 15 chickens. There golden comets, br's, slw's, and a ee. My ee is 6 weeks old and I found him dragging his head around. I called the number and they said to take the chickens to the vet as it can be deadly. I don't have the money to take my 15 girls and on one guy to the vet. Plus my local vet dosent do chickens. So I would have to drive up to Cornell ny to the unversity witch is over 2 hrs away. And pay multiple thousands of dollars! I have some activated charcoal will that work?

Don't give the chickens anything that is not recommended for that particular poison.

You looked at the Bayer site? Call the feed store and tell them you need to get your chickens to the vet and they need to pay for the bill.

Oh Bryan!! I so hope the outcome of this is positive!

What a horrible thing to have happen. Especially as your intentions had been so wonderful in wanting to give your girls a special treat!

I also hope you got the name of the fidiot that sold you the wrong stuff. That person needs to be strung up and tared and feathered! Of all the stupid, slack jaw, dumb as dirt things to do! It just goes to show that he/she wasn't paying any attention. You at least have the very plausible excuse of late night and dark. I wouldn't be the bit surprised if they don't make good on any form of restitution though. They always find some way to wriggle off of the hook. But, if they have any morals at all, they'll find some way to make it up to you.

Please do keep us posted on your girls progress out of this nightmare. Hopefully they didn't ingest enough to be fatal. I'll be saying special prayers for you and your flock.

It was Andres and son in montrose Pa. I think it was one of the loading guys that handed me the wrong bag. Personally out of 15 chickens only getting a few cups I don't think they will all die/get sick. One chicken always eats/steals the most so I'm most worriied about her

At this point there would be almost nothing a vet could do as the toxins would have long been absorbed into the chickens bloodstreams and tissues.

If they aren't dead or sick yet I would relax some. Obviously, don't eat the eggs for a while.

It's an unfortunate reality that our bodies and our animal's bodies are loaded with pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and God knows what else.

Wait it out, keep your eyes on them, and keep us posted. I believe they will be ok.

They sold you oats intended for seed rather than oats intended for feed. Seed grains are often treated with a fungicide so the seeds wouldn't rot before sprouting. Seems to me the feed store would be liable.

Oh dear, I do hope you make a stink. I would be furious. Good luck, I hope they are okay.

I agree with the others. The feed store employs the loader, so the feed store is responsible. What they do with that worker is up to them.

I'm so sorry if you lose any. Hopefully if you give water as the site says, it will help the birds. I'm just so furious about this I could spit nails!

OK another approach - call to see if there is an emergency vet clinic that does birds and have that MSDS sheet handy. Ask them what to do for a poisoning. I did this once with a parrot who ate a set of earphones that had gel in the padding of the ear pieces.

Alternately for a much smaller fee, you could ask these guys:
http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison-control/?gclid=CJGkuN7xiJwCFSIuagodfmuJYg

They were able to help me before with the same parrot. (I called two places to make sure I was getting the right advice.)

Again, have the MSDS sheet available so they know exactly what chemicals are involved.
