I applaud your actions, but I want you to use a little caution kiddo... Long time back (between the time they invented dirt and trees) My parents and I were all breeding Rotti's..... and a rott mix ... well those guys are unpredictable. I'd get your parents involved, call the police and report the dog so it can have a strike against it.

I know,I was on my high deck and was screaming at it,I would of thrown the knife but it was to far away.I just need to get more Co2 for my paintball gun(I play paintball all the time) and ill shoot the stupid thing.I also ran out of pellets and need to get more. And stupid me thought that a racoon killed the poor chicken becouse I was a t school when it happend. We are finishing the chicken tractor today and will put the ducks in it also

From the safety of your porch, I would be tempted to paint that do too. Still, check your local laws so you don't get charged with animal cruelty or some such thing. Best thing you can point at that dog is a camera or better video cam, legally speaking.

This is such a common and sad story. Some pet owners are such irresponsible people

I once came home to 2 Great Danes in my yard, one was taking a poop! I clapped my hands and yelled at it - the other dog went for me! I took a swing at it but we both missed - I only got dog slobber on my pants leg.

I told the person answering the phone at animal control that my daughter and other kids in the neighborhood would be coming home from school in about 30 minutes. If the dogs were back in my yard at that time, I was going to kill them. That was a hollow threat since my guns, then as now, are 30 miles away in a gunsafe.

The lady on the phone said, "Oh no, don't do that! Those dogs are someone's property!" By the time animal control got out, hour or so later, the dogs were back at their home and nothing was done.

I've taken pictures of loose dogs and taken them to animal control. Nothing was done. Weeks later when animal control showed up while these 2 canine terrorists were running loose, the officer asked another neighbor to take them back in their yard and tie them. The owners weren't at home and, again, nothing was done. Thank Heavens, these people and their dogs moved - to another neighborhood, where they must be terrorizing other folks, I'm sorry to say.

The next door neighbors got a puppy last year. I said over the fence that I hadn't thought of them as pit bull owners. The lady said, "Oh he's half mastiff so he has a good personality."

When he was 6 months old, he was totally out of control and had taken up jumping the fence, into the road and into my yard. We live about 100 yards from an elementary school and actually closer to a junior high bus stop. I hadn't suffered any direct losses so hadn't complained but these folks realized that they had a big problem. At 6 months of age, he was given away. The next door lady sadly told me that after he'd bitten the new owner's kid, they shot him . . .

Too sad all the way around - but neighbors shouldn't have to pay the price that comes with living near these pets. We pay for ineffective animal control and still experience loss of property and quality of life. My advice is to stay on animal control - their job is protecting the public and pets. No doubt, it will take continuing effort on your part.

I would not attempt to tick off a rotti mix with a paintball or pellet gun. I had a pit mix in my yard and shot at the ground with my 22 rifle to scare it off(new gun so I knew my aim was so bad I couldn't kill it) and it turned on me. Shot it once in stomach and once in hip with hollow points and it still ran away. Police report is better and tell your parents.

I don't think I'd go up against a rottie with a knife, I think the rottie would win.

Did you call animal control to let them know there is a dog running at large. Report it even if you know whos dog it is.

I told my mom fight after I saw it and she said we have to finish the chicken tractor today and she will go talk to the owners of the dog.I doubt the police will believe a 13 year old and plus I have no evedince that the dog was in the yard.
