OMG Mud and Dirt

We have a Cayuga duck, Pepper. She loves to play in mud and dirty. We have a pool for her and she puts dirt in it. Is this normal? Our drake, Salt, never did this.

Well it must be normal because mine all start our with sparkling clean water every morning and all buckets are dirty and pool is mucky in about 2-3 hrs. Ducks just love mud and love to rinse their faces in water.

It is perfectly normal! Ducks are so comical in their different behaviors! For some of them the more dirt the better!

Pepper likes to get dirt in her bill then dump it in her pool. After she has covered the bottom of her pool in dirt she plays in the pool. It’s so weird!

My 2 pekins do the same. .. and once our young khaki Campbells move outside I bet they will too! They're super fun to watch! My husband and I bought one of those deep black rubber tubs from TSC and it's deep enough they swim and dive .... they love it when we put feeder fish in it lol. ..
