This looks like a Western Terrestrial Garter Snake or a Mountain Garter. But with it being so young its hard to tell. Although I didnt think they were found that far east. Like OccamsTazer said the subspecies very greatly in color and patterns.
better hide it quick.. hes so cute my 4 yr old grandson will grab him from you.. he loves snakes.. he came in with a little orange salamander from under my deck last weekend.
