My baby goat was scratching scab on his head where he was disbudded and I noticed bleeding. My wife and I held him and I tried to pour a little iodine on the wound and he struggled and iodine got in his eye.. I tried flushing it out and he's going nuts from the water and now his eye is all milky white.. He won't let me stick his head under the faucet to flush... I can't get to a vet cause my truck won't start...

Is he now blind in that eye? I feel so terrible about this.

Call your vet..say its an emergency...ask them what you can do for it??

I found this online about iodine:

"Eye Contact:
Corrosive! Vapors are severely irritating and may cause damage to the eyes. Contact may cause severe burns and permanent eye damage."

As long as you flushed it with water REALLY good - you can't really do any else other than treat it with an eye ointment.
Sadly, there is a chance that they could be blind in that eye now.

All I can think of is to continue flushing. Some products recommend flushing for a full 15 minutes. Keep trying to flush w/running water. Hog-tie if you must. Good luck!

Was it diluted iodine? Always dilute iodine to an amber color. Bummer.

It's Swan Iodine Tincture.

Iodine Tincture U.S.P 100%
2% Iodine

Hubby want to know if you called poison Control, they will know what to do. We had to call them last week when our puppy ate a tube of Triple antibiotic, they were very helpful!
