OMG saw my first heart beating!!!!! I want to cry!!!

mine never smell. I had the *odor* once. I sat and picked up each egg and found the offender. It wasn't ready to bust yet, but I didn't want to take a chance. If I were you I would do the same....my daughter said it smelled a little like a boiled egg, very subtle though. A rotten egg can spoil the whole batch if it blows....
good luck

man..I've been trying hard not to open that bator as much as possible-I opened it to put water in it tonight cause the humidity got down to 21% its now back to 33 ish%...do you think the water in the bator can give off a stagnant odor? it doesn't smell like boiled eggs or that kind of rot-

what is your humidity at? sometimes, depending on the source of your water, it can smell a little musty if the humidity is high. If you have a LOT of minerals in your water that could also contribute. Don't stress about opening it up, I open mine up all the time. Think about nature, the hen leaves the next to go eat and drink.....

OMG I saw this thread and thought you were pregnant and just had
your first ultrasound.

ooops sorry-wow my first missleading post! I never thought it that way..I do have alot of minerals in my water--Im thinking its that-Ill keep my nose checking though-I dont not want any thing ruining this batch.

OK I had to candle again-every single egg-and smell every single egg because something was starting to stink

!! I pulled 4 more clear eggs out--huge bummer on that -they were silkies-and 1 I could smell the minute I touched it! I threw it away and can still smell it from the garbage-I opened all the "clear ones" and nothing had even started! bummer-I'm so glad I dove in again before that stinker ruined my whole hatch!!!-SO now that makes 12 down-38 left :-( I think I even had a few blood rings but I left those in a litle bit longer to make sure-I saw a dark spot not moving at all-so we'l see in a few days..My 3 eggs I put in ahead of the rest are all huge and developing great! At least I know the fertility of my eggs are great without a doubt...
