You just never know with hens. In the warm months if one turns up missing we don't even worry about it for a couple of months, because we once had a hen dissapear for three months, then nonchalantly re-appear, then dissapear for another few weeks, then re-appear...

We never did see any babies, but we know she must have had a nest somewhere.

Oh I hope so..it has been so cold lately but we did have a warm streak for about 2 weeks in a row. I miss her terribly, I will keep a look out for her

ok, my nerves are getting a little frayed...hatch day should have been Friday. It has been continually cool/ cold here with temps ranging from 20's to high 40's, since she started setting. But the temp in the garage has stayed an even 40 -45 degrees. And, she has been on the eggs all the time, even going so far as to eat only every other day when it was really cold. She has never been off the nest for more than about fifteen minutes and the fifteen minute intervals were on the warmer, 40 plus degree days. Otherwise, she hops off, grabs a bite, then gets back on. So, will they hatch???? Any of them?????

How long should we wait before we give up? Last time she was setting she went two days over also, it was cool then too, but not this cool. She has worked so hard, I would hate to see her fail!!!!

Try not to worry, even though I know you will. A mama hen knows what she is doing. I had a free range hen hatch biddies and it was 17 degrees out with snow on the ground. If you are worried about how warm the eggs are stick your hand under the hen. Man its warm under there. She will keep the biddies warm once they hatch. The only way you would lose any is if it is rainy and cold once she has them out free ranging. The chics will get wet and then cold so you could expect that to happen. Hope this helps. Trust your hen. Have faith in her, and have some fun while your doing all this. !!!!!! Oh yeah, glad your hen isn't misssing in the first place .
