OMG SHE'S BACK!!!!! UPDATE, NEED OPINIONS ONCE MORE

OK, final request for help, probably, anyway. We let her stay on the eggs an additional ten days, mostly because she wanted to and we didn't have the heart to move her. Well, no hatch, but it has remained steadily cold, 38 - 40 in the garage.. Yesterday, she threw out one of the eggs. (Violently, too, it landed several feet away and she threw out part of the nest with it , I could just imagine her saying...."blast and d.... these things!!!!

) well, the egg broke, natch, and there was a partially formed chick in it. Apparently, the cold killed it and probably all the rest, too. But, my children are still insistent that she stay on the nest (she still wants to) and that maybe some will still hatch....it is a little milder now but supposed to turn cold again. Those eggs couldn't possibly still hatch, could they? 31 days???? Should we give her more time, or take her off the nest and coop her up til she forgets? (She is making an awful mess in the garage...

i dont know anything about hatching eggs, other than what Ive read on here. Can you check on or two to see whats going on inside?

Well, I'm not sure what we would be able to see, beyond that there's a chick, or something, in the egg. There's no signs of cracks or anything indicating that they are trying to get out, that I have seen, but I haven't been able to closely inspect them all.

Don't forget just like in an incubator, if it is colder temps the incubation period is extended...if she is in the garage and if the temps there are like here, it will take a good week or 2 longer! I would try grabbing a couple and candeling

`if she has been setting since the 9th or 10 th of Nov.they arn't going to hatch ever, sorry ,you would be best to get her off the nest as they lose a lot of weight while setting even if you think she dont want too, once they get broody they will set on golf balls for a month and we know those wont hatch

Yeah, they won't hatch now. Cool weather can delay a few days, but beyond a few days, they'll die. No way they could still hatch 2 weeks late, two days yes, weeks absolutely not as their biological clock and stores are going to be depleted. If she had too many eggs and could not cover them all, that was probably the issue if you find them partially developed. If nothing in them, then they were probably never fertile.
