OMG! society finches hatched out quail eggs

OMG! That is the CUTEST! I had no idea that finches would hatch other birds Eggs! Now will the finches brood the quail? Will the quail get much bigger than the finch? (I have no idea of button quail size compared to a finch).

Are the finches trying to feed them? That could be a problem.

Yes, the quail are accepting the food too. The finches are eating gamebird crumble so its good for the chicks.

Now that the chicks left the nest they have a heat lamp but the finches do continue to sit over the babies periodically.

They will grow about twice as big as a finch.

View attachment 1973591I put 4 button quail eggs in their nest when the mother stopped brooding. They took 20 days but two have just hatched assisted by the finches who help chip away the shells.

Wow, you have some amazing finches! Hope they get to continue to raise them. I had two budgies who would sit under my broody japanese quail hen. One of the budgies died after breaking his leg but the other is now in with my princess parrot pair who think he's their chick. They've even tried to regurgitate for him!

I am dying looking at the finch and chick pics. I think those pics win the internet for being TOO CUTE! it's the most adorable thing I've seen this year!
