I am the Queen of paranoia.

I have it rigged so that all they can do is get up on their hind legs and peer in. They can't jump on top of it or onto the table it sits on.
They would have to get a battering ram and rush it all together.

But I won't leave the chicks alone with them.

My cat is an old hand at brooders and chicks. He just sees the brooder as a wonderful toasty place to sleep now. When I have it on but empty testing or warming up prior to chick deliveries he's inside basking under the light. Once it's occupied and closed he's on top.

I was thinking of drilling a hole in the top and suspending it from above. I am not sure if it isn't the thermometer. They are not huddling.

When we got chicks we never used a thermometer. Just watched the chicks. If they huddled near the light, we moved it closer, if they stayed away from it, we moved it further away. Heathen, I know, but we never lost a chick.

They are all so cute! Including the kitties of course.

Oh they are so adorable!!! Congratulations!! As for the little shaky one, sometimes you have one (or twenty) that get extra tired on the trip. It can take a day or so to rest up.

My cats want to eat my chickies so bad it isn't funny!!! They even sit on the incubator when some are hatching just waiting for mom to give them the little snacks she is baking!!! LOL
